Antibiotics for Poultry

Each 1 00 g contains:
Doxycycline base (as Doxycycline hyclate)                 50 g

Properties and mode of action:
• Boad spectrum bacteriostatic action - Tetracycline group
• Inhibition of the protein synthesis through binding of 30 S ribosomal subunit and alteration of cytoplasmic membrane permeability
• Well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, become widely distributed in body fluids and tissues especially respiratory tissue and can generally attain effective concentrations at sites of infection.

• Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by doxycycline sensitive microorganisms, like E. coli, Salmonella Pasteurella, Bordetella, Campylobacter, Haemophilus, , Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp in poultry, calves, goats, sheep.
• Used in the treatment of chronic respiratory disease (Mycoplasma gallisepticum), infectious synovitis (Mycoplasma synoviae) and Fowl cholera (P. multocida).
• Effective in the treatment of chlamydophilosis if administered for prolonged periods.

Dosage and administration:
For oral administration via drinking water.
Poultry: - 40 g / 1000 Kg body weight for 3 - 5 days.
